If you do that the download and install works fine. I had a Windows 7 and 8 computer that already had the McAfee site installed. When they were upgraded to W10 the software stayed intact and ran fine so you know it is not an issue with the antivirus software. However on the brand new W10 laptop I had to get past the screen that checked requirements. Thanks for this tip. Still does not work for me. The only difference is that it is now windows 10 instead of 7.

But then I gogoled this topic and hit this thread. It is quite possible for remnants of any particular software to inadvertently block the reinstallation of said software. Reboot your computer prior to attempting to reinstall the McAfee Security Suite. If you find that you are still unable to install the product, do keep in mind that Windows 10 includes an anti-virus Windows Defender as well as its own firewall; therefore, your computer will be protected even if you cannot install the McAfee Security Suite.

Which I said before is incorrect, because I had it on this computer, with the same account before. I know that I have Windows Defender, which I am using now. I know I also can use other ant-virus programs. I would still have it, if it weren't for having to reset my computer. I appreciate you trying to help, but to be honest, telling me to use another anti-virus program is not an answer to my question.

I follow its instructions and tell it to "Fix" and nothing happens.

I run McAfee Virtual Technician and it either says it can't fix the problem because of an "error" or it says the problem has been fixed but it never downloads the updated file. I go back to security center and it tells me my computer is still at risk. I have tried everything I can find but the only solution has been to totally remove the program from my computer and install it again McAfee can't seem to help me. This thread is locked.
